Privacy Policy

The Prep Nest is a small, independent preparedness site. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to opt out. The short version: we do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and everything that sets a cookie is optional.

Analytics that run for everyone

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool we host ourselves. It sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and does not follow you to other sites. It records aggregate page views, the referring site, and approximate country, browser, and device type. We cannot identify individual visitors from it, and because it needs no consent, it runs for everyone.

Analytics that need your consent

Two tools set cookies or store an identifier in your browser, so they load only after you accept:

• Google Analytics 4 tells us which guides are read and how people move through the site. Google processes this data as our provider and may transfer it outside the EU.
• Klyqq is our own click tracker. It stores a random visitor ID so we can tell which recommendations get clicked. That ID is not tied to your name, email, or anything else about you.

If you decline, neither one loads, and the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind at any time: reopen cookie settings. Your choice is stored in your browser, not on our server, so clearing site data resets it.

Affiliate links

Some links go to Amazon and other retailers, and we may earn a commission when you buy. Those retailers set their own cookies once you land on their site, under their own privacy policies, not ours. See our affiliate disclosure for how we choose what to recommend.

The contact form

When you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, and message you submit, and use them only to reply. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you are not a bot. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or UK, you can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent at any time. Because we deliberately collect so little, a request usually comes down to your contact form messages. Reach us through the contact page.

Changes

If we add or remove a tool that touches your data, we will update this page and change the date above.
