1. Information, not advice

We publish guides, checklists, and gear recommendations about emergency planning, sustainable living, and wilderness survival. They are general information to help you prepare, not professional, medical, or safety advice for your situation. First-aid and health content does not replace training or a doctor: take a certified first-aid course, and talk to a doctor or pharmacist before relying on anything health-related, such as storing medication. In an actual emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number and follow the instructions of local authorities.

Some of what we cover carries real risk: generators, fuel storage, stoves and heaters indoors, water treatment, knives, and time in the backcountry. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and local laws, and use your own judgment about what is safe for you.

2. Accuracy and prices

We work to keep product details, availability, and prices accurate, but products change and prices move. The price and terms shown at the retailer’s checkout are the ones that apply. If you spot something out of date, please tell us.
